Bible Verse On Housewarming

MEET THE PARENTS CANDLEMAS

READING OF THE GOSPEL ( Luke 2, 22-35)

What are the titles given to Jesus?

For the titles given to Jesus, we understand that it is not a "small child" ordinary. This text is a confession of faith in Jesus' expected Messiah, "" savior "hoped" sign God "and" light of nations "announced by the writing. The Evangelist refers in particular to the book of Isaiah that announces the arrival of a character, a "servant" who will bring light to the nations and liberate the people (Isaiah 42, 6-7). This text shows us the realization of a dual promise: That of God to his people and that given to Simeon "Do not die before seeing the Messiah."

 With children, we can highlight the term "light of nations" used by Simeon . Jesus is light for those who believe in him. Jesus will make himself later in the Gospel of John (Jn 8.12): " I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will not walk in the night, he will have the light of Life .'s use the symbol of light to speak of Jesus to the young. We can tell them how Jesus enlightens our lives. He shows us the way towards God and towards others. He is our friend who advance with us.

Why pancakes Candlemas?

We read this text the day of Candlemas, the feast of the candles. This day , the candles are blessed during the celebration to remember that Jesus is "a light for revelation to the Gentiles" in the words used by old Simeon to describe Jesus.

With children, we used to eat pancakes on the day of Candlemas, round and golden as the sun that illuminates and warms us. This is a great opportunity to remind them of the origin of this Christian festival.
